This new smart and cool phone, Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300 comes in the era of Android operating system equipped phone set. It is also enabled with this operating system (version 2.3 Gingerbread). Again, you find it very different as it is comparatively not so big but just enough to fit in your pocket. The 2.8 inch large screen is equipped with TFT capacitive touch screen. The new touch experience is now more sensitive. The phone can support 2G as well as 3G network operation. Samsung Galaxy Pocket offers new advanced feature like accelerometer, compass. This will bring a new experience when you enjoy gaming in this phone set. Again, you have all the basic utilities in it like music playing, watching video songs etc. The phones strong Wi-fi technology helps you to connect to internet for maintain communication to popular social networks. You find a geo tagging 2 MP camera which is helpful to capture memorable moments.
Slim and compact are the right words to use to describe the Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300. It is a low-end smartphone that has the look of the more expensive Galaxy models. Samsung used the same type of plastic material for the Pocket S5300 as other models.
The full touch user interface has the intuitive TouchWiz overlay with Android 2.3 Gingerbread running underneath. It is the simple, easy to use interface that we have come to expect from Samsung.
You will have all your communication needs covered with the Pocket S5300. Threaded view text messages will give you a nice chat style conversation with your friends and family. You are also able to send and receive picture messages. Push email support will keep you connected to your work and personal email accounts. There are also instant messaging applications that you can have access on the device.
The gallery will allow you to view photos easily on the Galaxy Pocket S5300 and upload to your social network of choice. Videos in MP4, H.264 and H.263 are also playable on the device.
If you want to listen to music, you simply need to have your music files in P3, WAV, or eAAC file format. In case you get tired of your music or do not have them loaded, you can use the stereo FM to listen to the radio. Audio sound quality is very solid and even better via the 3.5mm headphones.
Although the camera is only 2MP, the images turn out fairly clear. Resolution tops out at 1600x1200 pixels. There is also a Geo-tagging feature and an image editor to fix up your shots right on the device. It would have been nice for Samsung to add an auto focus feature.
Video can be recorded at 15 frames per second. It is going to record very average quality videos overall.
You've got options on this quad band device that supports 2G GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 bands. If you have access to it, there is also 3G 900 and 2100 bands available. Bluetooth will be supported up to version 3.0. To transfer files to a laptop or computer, microUSB 2.0 support is available.
A standard Android web browser will help you connect to the internet. Facebook, YouTube, Google Talk, ChatOn, and other applications are pre-loaded.
As an Android-based device, the Pocket S5300 has Google Maps readily available to navigate the roads. It is also AGPS enabled which is a plus.
This entry level Galaxy device can be bought for Rs. 6700 (approx., may vary). This is a great price point for a phone that has some nice features and the Samsung quality brand behind it. Whether you are looking for a budget Android device or are a first time smartphone users, the Pocket S5300 will not disappoint.
