Overview

An Entry Level Smartphone with Firefox OS

ZTE Open C was announced in February, 2014. It is based on the same design of earlier ZTC Open but has got certain upgradations. This time the company came up with an updated and latest version of Firefox software and is expected to work well. 

Looks: Simple and Cheap

On the back, it has got a plastic body while on the front panel, it is dominated by a 4- inches TFT display with a centrally placed single soft button at the bottom end of display. The multi-touch display provides a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and a pixel density of 233 ppi. ZTE Open C comes with the following dimensions, a height of 126 mm, width of 64.7 mm and a thickness of 10.8 mm. There is a 3.5 mm jack present on the top and a plug in for USB and charger at the bottom of the device. It is designed on the bar format which makes it easier to carry.

Hardware: Quad-core goodness

ZTE Open C is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chip set which is going to decide the speed of the device. It comes with a 512 MB of RAM and a 4GB of internal storage. The inbuilt can be expanded to another 32GB with the help of a micro SD card. The device supports 2G (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) as well as 3G (HSDPA 2100 MHz) network.

Software: Firefox

The smartphone runs on Firefox v1.3 operating system rather than on Android operating system. The operating system operates on the latest version of Firefox and is expected to provide a better speed on usage. ZTE Open C comes pre-loaded with Mozilla Firefox, some of the Google apps like G mail, You-tube, Facebook, Messenger, games etc. The phone has a connectivity option for Bluetooth, USB, GPS, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi Hotspot). 

Multimedia: Scores average

ZTE Open C has got an average score in the department of multimedia. The device is featured with a music and video player for the listening pleasure and is accompanied by a video recorder. It is also equipped with FM radio which gives uninterrupted and better signals all the time. The smartphone has a 3.15 MP rear camera which provides a photo resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The primary camera is featured with digital zoom. There is no front camera available for ZTE Open C. 

Shades and Battery: Good enough

The phone is available in bright color style: Orange which is most liked by the youth. ZTE Open C comes equipped with a Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery which is quite workful with 2G and 3G networks. 

Conclusion

ZTE Open C has got features like FM radio and 3.5 mm Audio Jack which are on the advantage of the phone. It is quite doubtful whether the software is going to work well or not. It is not featured with front camera and flash which leaves it behind in the race.
