Xiaomi is a Chinese electronics company which is headquartered in Beijing, China. It is one of the biggest electronics company that designs and develops cellular mobile phones. The company has launched three new smartphones in the mobile market in July, 2014 and Redmi 1S is one of them. The Xiaomi's Redmi 1S comes in a pack with a charger, battery, head-set, USB cable, user manual and warranty card. Let's take a closer look at the specifications of the phone.

Design and Display

The sheer slimness and compact form factor of phone will amaze you. The device is light and can easily fit into most palms. The Redmi 1S comes with a height of 137mm, width of 69mm and thickness of 9.9 mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 158grams. The front panel is dominated by a 4.7-inch IPS LCD screen with three soft keys for options, home and back along with recent apps at the bottom. The display offers crisp visual experience with its 1280x720 pixels HD resolution and 312 ppi pixel density.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is powered by a Quad-core processor which has a 1.6 GHz clock speed. It comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 chip-set and Adreno 305 GPU for stunning performance and graphics. The phone has a massive RAM of 1 GB which is coupled to an internal memory of 8 GB. The users can add up to 32 GB of memory using a micro SD card. It is based on the Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes with dual SIM capabilities which works efficiently with GSM and WCDMA networks. The user can store an unlimited number of contacts to its phonebook memory. The device offers SMS, MMS, IM and email like services for messaging and emailing.

The 8 MP rear camera comes with a number of features like auto-focus, touch-focus, Geo-tagging, HDR, face recognition, smile detection, Zero shutter lag and real-time filters. The device gives an enhanced browsing, gaming and watching experience. Music playback is good as well, but the experience is better with the supplied earphones. It uses the same sound technology which is used by Bentley, Rolls-Royce and BMW. There is a FM radio to satisfy the music buffs. Videos and Games look exceptionally good on its large screen. A number of apps comes pre-loaded on the phone including the Facebook, Gmail, Twitter and many more.

On the connectivity front, the Redmi S1 offers GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, micro USB v2.0, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and LE. It also has GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS capabilities for improved navigation. Backing the device is an Li-ion 2000 mAh battery which assures a good battery life with 72 hours of standby time.
