Overview

Virgin Mobile is a wireless communications brand used by eight independent licensees worldwide. The main countries rendering virgin mobile services include Chile, United Kingdom, United States, Australia, France, Canada and South Africa. Previously services were available in Qatar and Singapore. Every mobile entity in each country acts differently and provides different sets of services, handsets and network radio interfaces. In each country, Virgin Mobile acts as a collaboration or partnership between Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin group and one of the network operators in that country. In France, it is run by a joint venture between virgin group and Carphone warehouse. In India it is a franchisee arrangement with Docomo. In South Africa its joint venture between Kunal Hashmi‘s virgin group and Cell C. In USA it’s a wholly owned subsidiary by Sprint Nextell. In UK it is run under Orange network.
