Sprint and Samsung have been collaborated and together they have announced the Galaxy S5 Sport which can be called as the successor of Sprint's Galaxy S5 At&T. It is a high end smartphone having smart features from all spheres. It is now available in the countries having Spark network.
The Sprint S5 Sport has a long and sleek body carved in bar format that weighs only 158 grams. Its dimension figures includes a height of 144 mm, width of 74 mm and thickness of 8.9 mm. Talking about its looks, it has three physical buttons below the long screen and a rugged textured body at the back which helps in having more grip of this large device. The front is adorned with a beautiful 5 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that comes protected with the Corning Gorilla glass and provides pretty good resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. It comes with IP67 rating for being dust and water resistant. It can withstand being submerged in water for up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Other than this, the screen has an exceptionally high pixel density of 432ppi and comes with the goodness of TouchWiz User Interface too.
S5 Sport carries a 2.5 GHz Quad Core processor along with the power of Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974AB chipset. It comes accompanied by 2 GB RAM and Adreno 330 Graphics processor. As it works on the latest version of Android Operating System which is v4.4.2 KitKat, the multitasking becomes easier on the gadget than ever before. To store files and applications, it has an on-board storage of 16 GB which can be expanded up to 128 GB with the help of a microSD card. Besides basic sensors like accelerometer, proximity, gyro, compass and barometer, it has also included the Heart rate monitor which directly supports the fitness apps.
It operates on the 2G, 3G and 4G ( with support of Sprint Spark ) network frequencies. For messaging, it facilitates SMS, MMS, IM and Email. Voice Memo has also been integrated to send / receive audio messages.
For the shutterbugs, Sprint has an excellent 16 MP rear snapper that takes pictures at a resolution of 5312x2980 pixels. Besides basic features like digital zoom, auto-focus and LED Flash, it has included advanced features as well like geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, touch-focus, zero shutter lag, phase detection, aqua mode and full HD video recording. A 2 MP front shooter has also been affixed by the company to facilitate selfies and video calling. It provides a picture resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. With such abundant list of camera features we can say that this phone is best suitable for photography.
Moving to the entertainment part, the phone comes armed with a music player and video player. Other than this, user can record videos, record voice, see or edit images and can play games in his / her leisure time. Social Networking Services like Facebook and Twitter has also been included to stay in touch with relatives and friends. The built-in Java support and HTML 5 browser further lets the user download numerous games and applications. Its active noise cancellation system ensures that the sound quality is decent both while playing music and taking calls.
Sprint has provided a long list of connectivity options with the handset to make it a fully compatible networking device. It includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, EDGE, GPRS, DLNA, NFC, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, USB v2.0, OTG, GPS, A-GPS and Handsfree. The data is transferred to / from the web at the HSDPA, HSDUPA and CAT4 speeds with a down-link speed of up to 150 Mbps and up-link speed of up to 50 Mbps. To keep the phone going, the company has fitted a Li-ion battery of 2800 mAh which claims a max standby time of up to 480 hours and max talktime of up to 29 hours.
The smartphone comes loaded with many apps like S Health, Sprint Fit Live, HD Voice, Multi Window 2, Quick Connect and Samsung Knox. Initial customers will also get a free 12 months subscription of MapMyFitness MVP app which is owned by Under Armour company. This app will work on GPS system and will track, monitor and share workout activities with the help of audio coaching, training plans, live tracking etc.
This phone is now available in the choice of Electric Blue and Cherry Red colors at a price of USD 200 which accounts to INR 20,000 approximately (may vary).
