Overview

High-End Smartphone With Good Set of Features
By Priyanka Saini

Sony Xperia J1 Compact Phantom Pain Edition is a special edition smartphone inspired by Metal Gear Solid V : The Phantom pain video game. Sony has joined hand with fifth largest Japan based game company Kanomi to launch this smartphone. The main highlight of this smartphone is its custom rear cover that features Outer Heaven logo and Sony Xperia badge. It packs a Kitkat OS, 2 GB RAM, 4.3-inch screen, 2300mAh battery and 20.7 MP camera. It falls in a high-end smartphone category. The brief specification of this smartphone is given below:

Display and Design

With a beautifully crafted back frame, this smartphone features a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen at front. It offers a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels and 16 Million color depth. The device is bit heavy and bulky with a measure of its dimensions like 128 mm height, 65 mm width, 9.7 mm thickness. It holds a weight of 138 grams. Though its size make it worth to hold in one's palm for long time.

Processor and OS

It packs a 2.2GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor under the hood with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Together it handles multiple tasks efficiently with less consumption of battery and time. But Sony has offered an older version Android 4.4 KiKat operating system in this smartphone which can be seen as the negative point of this smartphone.

Camera and Memory

The photography department of the phone is quite impressive with a 20 MP camera at the back panel. It provides a picture resolution of 5200x3850 pixels and supports remarkable features like LED flash, auto-focus, geo-tagging, digital zoom, touch-focus etc. For the selfies, it packs 2.2 MP camera at the front which is very low as compare to other phone of this segment. Storage wise, it supports 16 GB internal memory with microSD card support to avail additional storage level. Multimedia features of the phone are FM Radio, music player, video player and games.

Connectivity and Battery

It works on 2G and 3G network band frequencies. It does not have 4G LTE support which is again a drawback of this smartphone. The connectivity attributes of the phone are Bluetooth, microUSB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. The battery ticking inside the phone is of 2300mAH unit.

Shades and Price

The Sony Xperia J1 special edition comes in White color and it is available in Japanese market only for 59,800 yen which is roughly Rs.31,400 in India.
