The Samsung Guru 1205 is a candy bar style device with an alphanumeric keypad. It is a basic phone with a simple design. Made out of plastic, the device is small has an average build quality. The back cover is a bit on the slippery side and does not fit on the device very well.
Packed with a proprietary Samsung user interface, this simple phone will not be a problem to navigate through. Its compact size will almost make you forget it is there if you put it in your pocket. Even those with small hands will have to problem navigating the device one-handed.
With the ability to save up to 1000 contacts, there should be plenty of space to save all your personal and work numbers.
You can also save up to 500 text messages on the device. There is no threaded-view for a chat style feel available. As a basic device, you will not be able to send/receive picture messages or have email accessibility.
Because there is no camera on the device, hence there is not a gallery to view pictures. There is no supported video player so you will not be able to play any media on the Guru.
While there is a lack of a music player, you can listen to FM radio through the Guru. You must plug in a 3.5mm headphone in order to take advantage of this feature. The quality of the audio itself is very good for a basic device such as this.
The Guru lacks a camera so you will need to carry a camera for taking pictures on the go.
A video camera is obviously absent as well from the Guru.
The dual band Guru has access to GSM 900 and 1800 MHz bands. While it lacks USB port and Wi-fi support, you do have Bluetooth connectivity.
You will find some basic utility functions such as a calculator, converter, and memo on the Guru.
Internet browsing is not available on the Guru due to its lack of a web browser.
As what would be expected with a device with no internet connectivity, you will also have no access to navigational tools.
Battery life on the Guru will get you through four to five days with no problem.
At a price of Rs. 1250 (approx., may vary), the Guru will not burn a hole in your wallet. This is a very basic device that will cater to those who are looking primarily for the basic functions of calling and texting. Call quality and reception is very good on the Guru. Overall, the Guru is a good handset that offers a low price, quality phone functions, and no thrills.
