Samsung is a South Korean multinational company which was founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938. Its headquarters are located in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea. It is a world's leading manufacturer of electronic gadgets. The company has announced a new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A5 in Oct, 2014. Let's take a closer look at the specifications of the phone.

Design and Display

The Galaxy A5 has an extremely stylish and edgy design that makes it stand out. It seems to be a slim phone which can easily fit into one's palm. The overall look of phone is impressive with a nice wide super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 5.0-inches which provides a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and a 294 ppi pixel density. The front panel also features one hard button along with two feather touch soft keys. It comes equipped with accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors.

Hardware and Software

It runs on a Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and has a massive RAM of 2 GB to ensure a snappy performance. It has an internal memory of 16 GB which can be expanded to another 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card. This smartphone is based on the Android v4.4.4 KitKat operating system which has enough power to tackle the apps that are thrown on its way.

Telephony and Messaging

The device operates on 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G (HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz) and 4G (LTE 700 MHz) network frequencies. The user can store a huge number of contacts in the phonebook memory. The messaging facilities available for the device includes SMS, MMS, IM and email.

The Galaxy A5 has got a brilliant 13 MP rear camera that takes 4128x3096 pixels resolution pictures. While the secondary camera has a 5 MP count which is capable of capturing 2592x1944 pixels resolution selfies and allows the users to video calling.
