Onida has come up with a phone that is now only very pretty but very sturdy. Keeping up with the long lost tradition of making things that last, Onida F970 is a phone which you can carry everywhere.
The phone has been given a very trendy look with silver white colour body, red sides, and red under colour. The phone has a standard LCD screen and alphanumeric keyboard. The phone weighs about 80 grams and has the size of 106x46x13.6 mm. The phone is simple bar shaped. One of the best things about this phone is that it is very sturdily built. The material is non-slippery and very comfortable to hold.
The phone has a 2-inch screen and the display is LCD with 176x220px resolution. The display is average but good enough for the features of the phone. The keys on the keypad of the phone are placed in a very narrow band under the track pad and calls end/receive buttons. We found that typing long and quick messages is not comfortable with the phone. The phone has an inbuilt memory of 35MB, which can be extended up to 8GB using a card slot.
The phone supports basic 2G network. The phonebook can store up to 500 entries. The call logs can be directly accessed from the call button (green backlight) on the phone. Call clarity is average.
The phone can store up to 200 SMS entries and supports MMS. Email feature is not supported by the phone. We found that accessing message menu is easy but frequent messaging is not comfortable on the keypad.
The phone has a simple photo viewer with no options to edit. The video player of the phone supports only MP4 formats. The video clarity on the phone is not good and it is not suitable for viewing full movies.
Music player is the simple MP3 player. The FM comes with a recording option but the memory space is so low you hardly have any space left for recording. The sound quality of the phone is very disappointing.
The phone has a basic 2MP camera with 1600x1200 resolution. The camera has digital zoom but no autofocus and flash. The image quality is passable at its best.
Video recording can be done on the phone although the space restrictions do not allow long videos. The playback appears to be very stilted.
The phone supports Bluetooth, WAP, and GPRS as the connectivity options. USB connectivity allows the user to connect to PC. The phone has a PC sync feature, which you can use with your desktop/laptop.
The phone has a very basic organiser along with alarm clock, calendar, clock, Anti-theft mobile tracker, voice dialling, funny accent, and voice memo.
The phone supports WAP 2.0 browser for browsing the internet but the GPRS on the phone is very slow.
The phone does not have any GPS.
The price of the phone in Indian market is INR 1800 (approx., may vary) which is a very good point in the phones favour.
The phone ears a 2.6 star from us out of 5 for being pocket friendly and sturdy. The phone lacks many features such as decent audio quality, call voice, and command responses, which bring the phone’s rating down.
