Nokia Lumia 720 is a mid-range smart phone from the house of Nokia. In the range of Windows 8 OS phones Lumia 720 makes an almost perfect choice.
Design wise the phone has an industrial look, which instantly capture the attention. Vivid colours such as blue, yellow, and red, black and white make this phone more attractive. The phone is very comfortable to use and does not slip from the grip. The battery of the phone will last you comfortably for a day with normal use. The screen is not exactly edge-to-edge but is big enough so that you don’t feel that the space has been wasted.
The phone runs on the new Windows 8 OS and has a 512 MB RAM. The RAM is not good enough for high tech gaming but most of the apps work fine on the phone. The screen is 4.3 inch with 480x800 pixels resolution. The screen has crisp and sharp display. The viewing angles are very good and both day light and low light visibility is very good. You can customize the apps according to your need on the screen. The apps and features of the phone are easy to access and understand.
The call quality of the phone is very good and we did not experience any call drops or broken speech. The loudspeaker mode is also ok. The phonebook app of the phone has all the features that you will desire to stay connected to your friends/colleagues and families easily. All the social media contacts and past contact history can be easily accessed through the phonebook.
Message, emails, MMS, and IM features are available on the phone. SMS history can be viewed in the form of conversations and can be deleted easily. The on screen keyboard is easy to use and apps like Swype make it much easier to use.
Gallery contains various features include voice recorder, photo viewer and video player. The photo viewer gives you many options like crop, brighten etc. to edit the photos. You can download many apps from the store. Photo editing apps include Bing Vision, Cinemgraph, Nokia Glam Me, Panorama and Smart Shoot and PhotoBeamer. The video player plays all the formats comfortably and you can easily view full movies on the screen without straining your eyes too much.
Missing FM player on the phone pinches a little but there are many apps that you can download to listen to your favourite radio stations. Music quality on the phone is very good and even the earphones provided give you a decent sound. Dolby’s Headphone Sound Enhancement technology gives the earphones the edge you need to listen to good music. Equalizers can be used to tweak the sound performance.
The camera on the phone is surprisingly very good. The camera comes with Carl Zeiss optics. The camera works very well in both daylight and low light conditions. The camera is 6.7MP and the features include Auto Focus, Touch Focus, Auto and Manual White Balance, Multi-scene Mode, Geo-tagging, and Image Editor. The front camera is 1.3MP and is very good for taking some nice pictures and video calling.

Various organizer tools include Calculator, Clock, Calendar, Alarm, Call Waiting, Video Sharing, Audio Messaging, Text-to-speech Message Reader, PlayReady, Audio Recording, Micro SIM, Voice Mail, Firmware Update, To-do List, and Voice Input
The Internet explorer browser is very good and comes with almost all the features of the browser. Various apps include Office, One Note, Wallet, transfer my data app, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook Mobile, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instant Messaging, YouTube, and Windows Live Messenger.
The phone comes with GPS with GLONASS for Nokia Drive, Maps and apps like Nokia City Lens, which are Ok but not very good. But it does list some lesser-known places with clear directions.
Tranfermydata app lets you transfer your data from one device to another easily, Wi-Fi streaming of pictures allows you to view pictures on slideshow on a larger screen.
The phone is priced at INR 18500 (approx., may vary) in the Indian market. The price of the phone is very attractive. The hardware is very efficient and camera and software very usable.
