Nokia Lumia 625 is a low cost smartphone that has almost all the features of a high-end smartphone and still fits in your budget easily.
The phone is definitely very pleasing to look at. It weighs only 159grams, which is very attractive for a smartphone. The phone comes in attractive rubberise back colours such as pink-red, green, yellow, black and white. What we love about the phones design is the screen size of 4.7inch. Nokia has not wasted any space on the screen and it runs almost edge to edge. The back cover of the screen feels flimsy but is not as breakable as it looks. The dimensions of the phone are 133.25 x 72.25 x 9.15mm. The battery of the phone is good and will last comfortably for a day. The screen is made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
The phone has the same Windows 8 OS as like in the other OS but the downside comes in the form of only 512MB of RAM and only 8GB of internal memory. But at the price of the phone you can the lack of space will not pinch you much. The UI is easy to navigate around. However, the 4.7-inch screen’s resolution has been limited to only 800x480px. We expected a better resolution from the phone. The text does not look so good on the screen and you will have to zoom in on the screen to read it comfortably.
The phone supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The call quality on the phone is good and even in noisy places you can hear the voice at the other end quite clearly. The phonebook is the People’s app. It integrates your messages and social media updates all at one place so that you do not have to waste time in looking at different apps.
Standard messaging, email, and chat features are available on the phone.
The photo viewer is the Windows photo viewer and you can do basic photo editions. The video player plays all kinds of videos (MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV) without you having to use any extra convertor. The gallery hosts all your apps, photos, music, videos etc.
Audio quality on the phone is excellent. There equalizer lets you set the sound according to your tastes. Music can be played in MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA formats. The speakers are good.
Camera is another aspect where Nokia has compromised to fit the phone in budget. The rear camera is 5MP with flash and zoom. Smart cam feature is available on the phone but limited only to five photos. The camera response is slow but the photos are good. The front camera is simple VGA camera suitable for video chats. The rear camera has burst mode that lets you take quick photos in succession and then you can choose the best from it.
Video camera can be recorded @30fps with 1080p recording. Video recording is good enough for a phone.
Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, GPRS, 3G, and 4G. NFC is not present on the phone. Tethering works beautifully on the phone and you actually do not miss not having NFC to connect to other devices.
The tools on the phone include 7GB of free SkyDrive space. Calculator, Clock, Calendar, Alarm, Reminders, To-do List, OneNote, Games, Text-to-speech, Remote Device Locking via Internet, , Cinema graph, , Cloud Music Offline Playback, Graphical Equalizer, Voice and Audio Recording, Video White Balance Modes, Video Zoom, Voice Recognition.
The browser is the Nokia IE10. The apps include Facebook, Twitter, Chat, Gmail, LinkedIn etc. You can customize your phone by downloading apps from the Windows store. The browser on the phone is good but text and pictures have to be zoomed to read and see clearly.
Here maps are available on the phone and can be accessed offline. Maps are quite accurate to the position.
