Nokia Asha 230 is the latest Micro-SIM, dual standby smartphone by Finnish cell phone giant, Nokia which was showcased and launched at 2014 Mobile World Congress in February, 2014, with the tagline of Nokia's most affordable Asha touch phone. It comes in a pack with a Nokia stereo headset WH-108, a quick guide, a Nokia charger AC-18 and a removable 3.7V Li-Ion 1020mAh Nokia BL-5C battery with a standby time of up to 792 hours, a talk time of up to 11 hours, a music playback time of up to 42 hours, a video playback time of up to 8 hours and a cellular network browsing time of up to 6 hours. It has a height of 99.5mm, a width of 58.6mm and a thickness of 13.2mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 89.3gms and runs on quad-band 2G(GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) network frequencies. It is available in India in six beautiful shades which includes White, Black, Yellow, Green, Cyan and Red at a price of 59 USD which roughly corresponds to INR 4,000 approximately.
Nokia Asha 230 has got a 2.8-inch, capacitive Transflective LCD touchscreen display with a QVGA resolution of 240x320 pixels, HighColor(18-bit/256k) display, 4:3 aspect ratio, 143ppi pixel density, brightness control, tactile feedback, low power mode, Nokia glance screen and Nokia's Fastlane UI which shows notifications right on the home screen. It has got a RAM of 64MB along with an expandable storage memory of 32GB via a microSD memory card slot. It is a Nokia Asha software platform 1.1.1 OS based smartphone with Firmware Over-the-Air(FOTA) software updates, a couple of sensors such as accelerometer and proximity and a lot of other features such as a 3.5mm stereo headphone connectors, a digital clock, recorder, calculator, calendar, notes, alarm clock, Phonebook, Java games, MS Exchange Active Sync, multiple Email accounts with attachments, integrated hands-free speakers, voice mail, fixed dialing number, conference call, call forwarding, downloadable and MP3 ringtones, some speech codec, general security features which includes Firmware updates, device lock, PIN code and device lock passcode, WAP internet browser, photo sharing with Slam and Facebook, video sharing with Slam, Nokia Nearby, cellular network positioning, stereo FM radio, mono voice recorder, free of PVC, unplug charger reminder, speakerphone, vibrating alerts and many more.
Nokia Asha 230 has also got a 1.3MP rear camera with a resolution of 1280x960 pixels, fixed focus, 3xdigital zoom, f/2.8 aperture, 2.3mm focal length, 60cm minimum focus range, landscape orientation, auto and manual white balance, still image editor, full screen viewfinder, video and self-timer capture modes, automatic scene mode, color tone modes(sepia, normal, negative and black & white), white balance modes(fluorescent, daylight and automatic) and automatic light sensitive. For the videos, it has a video frame rate of 15fps with 3xvideo zoom, 25fps video playback frame rate, playback codecs(H.263, H.264/AVC and MPEG-4), playback file formats(3GP and MP4), recording formats(3GP/H.263), automatic scene modes, recording color modes(black & white, negative and sepia), Download and Play, white balance modes(fluorescent, daylight, automatic and lightbulb) and streaming from video services and internet. For messaging, it includes chat style conventional SMS, an unified MMS/SMS editor, multimedia messaging, IM(Twitter, WhatsApp, Direct chat and Facebook), Email, Push mail and integrated social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, LINE and WeChat along with predictive text input. For connectivity, it has got GPRS with speed of up to 42.8kbps, EDGE with speed of up to 236.8kbps, micro USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and SLAM technology.
