Nokia Asha 205 Dual SIM is a phone made for the Indian Market. It is packed with features and has a long battery that means that you can use the phone comfortably for days. It is a dual SIM phone therefore relieves you with the necessity of carrying two phones.
Asha 205 does not impress much in terms of the quality of the build. The rubber coated side panels give it a slightly artificial look but at the same time the design of the phone is very modern and stylish. With the dimensions of 112.8x13x61.1mm the phone weighs a mere 94 grams that is even less than a chips packet.
The phone was definitely designed with the user in mind. The screen is 2.4 inch LCD with QVGA screen resolution of 320x240 pixels. Standard TFT 65K colors gives it a very decent display. The phone has a QWERTY keypad, which we feel is a little cramped but you soon get used to it. The keys respond to touch quite well. The phone even has a dedicated Facebook and messaging key. You can customize the home screen the way you want.
Asha 205 has the internal memory of 64MB, which is expandable up to 32 GB. Up to 1000 phone book entries can be stored comfortably, which is a lot. You also have the standard option of copying contacts, creating groups, sending business cards and storing on SIM and Phone. Standard call quality is good. The phone does not have 3G feature so you cannot make video calls but has Dual SIM (GSM+GSM) with (GSM - 900, 1800) facility to make calls on speakerphone.
Standard messaging features include voice memo are available on the phone. You can use the messaging key on the phone to directly access the messages without have to go through the menu. WAP 2.0 dedicated internet browser makes browsing through emails an easy task. Email can also be accessed through dedicated apps for Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail.
With 32 GB expandable memory you can store as many photos as you want. The photo viewer gives you the option to view photos by date taken. Video player supports 3gp, AVC, MP4, H.263, MPEG-4, WMV, H.264 formats that covers basically all types of video formats. However the phone does not stream videos from YouTube or any other sites that we consider is a feature that should have been available.
Music player is passable but sadly lacks the facility of an equalizer. You cannot listen to very loud music from this phone but with earphones on the sound quality is quite good. The FM player quickly scans the stations and you can store your favourites. The Stereo FM radio also has the recording feature that is quite good.
The phone only has a 0.3MP camera and takes VGA pictures which in full daylight are quite sharp but in low light or even in dark mode it is best if you avoid taking pictures from the phone camera. The camera supports 4x digital zoom. It also has other features like Color Tone Modes, Self-timer, White Balance Modes, Full Screen Viewfinder, Landscape Orientation, and Image Editor that give you a lot to do with the images that you take.
The phone has one camera at the back of the device. It records at 10fps that is good for casual recording. There is no secondary camera.
The phone is Bluetooth, GPRS and EDGE enabled. The Bluetooth version 2.1 is fast and allows seamless transfer. The Micro USB connectivity feature is missing from the phone and therefore you cannot connect the phone with PC or sync with it. The inbuilt Nokia Slam for Bluetooth transfers works very well with other phones too.
As we said before the phone is packed with features. These include calendar, alarm clock, scientific calculator, converter, world clock, reminder, to do list and Dictionary and Voice recorder utilities.
The phone comes with important applications like Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Nokia Mail, Direct Email, Google Talk, Facebook, Windows Live Messenger, Nokia Chat, eBuddy, Nokia Store, Nokia Money, Nokia Life, Bookmark which means that you always stay connected with your contacts.
No GPS feature and Google maps are available on the phone.
Dedicated Facebook key, outstanding battery life of 20hrs of talk time, with fast internet browser makes this phone a very desirable one in its segment
The current market price of the phone is INR 3475 (approx., may vary), which is very good considering the number of features this phone has.
If you need a phone, which has Dual SIM and lots of features of Smart phones, then this is the phone to go for. It is user friendly and lightweight, which will satisfy most of the loyal Nokia fans.
