Motorola has launched a wide range of smartphones in the gadget market and the & 'DROID Turbo' is one of them. This Android based smartphone is released by the company in the month of October, 2014. Let's take a closer look at the specifications of this smartphone.
The device is stylish as far as looks are concerned. It features a subtle frame in premium ballistic nylon which gives it a textured look, offers durability and is light in weight. The phone is easy to use and can easily fit into most palms. It has got a height of 143.5 mm and width of 73.3 mm whereas the thickness and weight depends on the color option you choose. The Black Ballistic Nylon has a thickness in the range of 8.3-11.2 mm and weighs 176 gms while the Metallic Red and Metallic Black has got a weight of 169 gms and a thickness range of 7.8-10.6mm. The front panel of phone is dominated by a 5.2-inches Quad HD display which has a resolution power of 2560x1440 pixels and 565 ppi pixel density. The phone is water-resistant so that one can capture pictures and videos under water.
Powering the smartphone is a Quad-core processor that has a clock speed of 2.7 GHz and an enough power to handle the apps. The device comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip-set and an Adreno 420 as its graphical processing unit. The DROID Turbo runs on the Android version 4.4.4 KitKat operating system with a planned upgrade to Android v5.0 Lollipop. It is coupled to a RAM of 3 GB and an internal storage of 32 or 64 GB. Overall, the hardware part sounds great.
The device operates at 2G (GSM/CDMA), 3G (HSDPA/CDMA) and 4G (LTE) network frequencies. The user can store an unlimited number of contacts to its phonebook memory. The messaging facilities available for the device are SMS, MMS, email, push email and IM. It is also featured with a predictive text input which helps in typing.
The 21 MP rear camera comes loaded with a number of features like Auto HDR, panorama, auto-focus and tap to focus, tap anywhere to capture, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, burst mode and dual-LED flash. It can capture 5291x3968 resolution pictures which is quite interesting. The secondary camera has a 2 MP count which allows the user to make a video call. One can also take 1600x1200 pixels resolution selfies.
The networking and connectivity options available for the device include 3G, 4G, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, micro USB, Infrared, NFC, GPS with A-GPS support and hands-free connectivity. Backing up the device is a Li-Po 3900 mAh battery which delivers a talk-time up to 48 hours and standby time up to 675 hours on 3G network. It also offers up to 8 hours of mixed usage with a 15 minutes of charging.
The Motorola DROID Turbo is available in Black Ballistic Nylon, Metallic Red and Metallic Black shades. The Motorola DROID Turbo is available on Verizon Wireless in the U.S. with a price tag of $199 (INR 12,000) for 32GB Metallic Black, Metallic Red or Ballistic Nylon versions and $249 (INR 15000) for the 64GB Ballistic Nylon version.
