The new Motorola Droid Mini phone is what you call big things in a small package. The phone runs with Verizon network as a carrier.

The phone’s dimensions are 121.3 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm and it weighs 132 grams. The phone has a 4.5-inch edge-to-edge display, which is very convenient to use. The phone fits perfectly in the palm of your hand without having to fumble or stretch your fingers to reach the corners of the screen. The phone’s built is strong although not as strong as Nokia phone but it will not break at one fall. The screen of the phone is splash proof, which is a very good selling point. The battery of the phone will last you with 28hours of regular usage.

User Interface and Comfort to Use Motorola Droid Mini

The phone does not have a MicroSD slot, which limits the memory of the phone to only 16GB. The phone has a 2GB of RAM and a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon processor. The phones’ UI is Android 4.2.2. The phone is fast and responsive. The scree is only LCD but has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which is sharp and clear. On screen keyboard is comfortable and responds well.

Telephony and Phonebook

The phone supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The call quality is excellent and the loudspeaker perfectly adequate. The phone book is easy to customize. You can add contacts, social media ids, photos, and voice commands to the phonebook.

Messaging and Emails

MMS, SMS, Email are available on the phone. You can customize various email accounts on the phone easily.

Gallery, Photo Viewer and Video Player

Gallery of the phone is the host of many features and apps. The photo viewer lets you edit the photos and sort them out according to your preferences. The video player supports H.263, H.264, MPEG4, RV v10, RV v9, WMV v10, WMV v9 formats. The player is smooth and saves your favourites for easy access. Album view can be easily integrated.

Motorola Droid Mini Music Player and FM Radio

The phone does not have FM radio. The music on the phone supports most of the formats. The music quality is good and you can even download music directly on the phone.

The phone has a 10MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. Camera features include Auto focus, LED flash, HDR, Digital zoom, Touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection, , and RGBC camera. The camera pictures are good and the auto focus kicks in quickly. The colours are sharp.

Video Camera and Video Quality

1080p@30fps video recording is available on the phone. Video recording are one of the best in its class.

Motorola Droid Mini Connectivity Options

Connectivity options on the phone include NFC, Wi-Fi, WLAN, Bluetooth, GPRS, 3G and 4G options. The connectivity is smooth and without any hitches.

The phone has all the basic organizer tools that you need to organise your work and personal life.

Web Browser and Applications

HTML 5 browsers on the phone is very good. Pinch to zoom works very well and you will not have any problem in reading the text and viewing the pictures. Common apps include Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, and YouTube.

Google Maps and GPS

Standard Google maps are available on the phone. GPS latches on to the satellite in under a minute. The maps are adequate and you can save them on the phone.

Distinctive Features of Motorola Droid Mini

There are two distinctive features of the phone. One is it being splash proof. The other is its excellent response to voice command. Motorola has teamed up with Google now for this feature. You can command the phone to turn on, open Google features etc. ‘Call my Droid’ feature helps you locate the phone in the room.

Value for Money

The phone has not yet launched in India.
