Micromax Canvas Lite A92 is an attempt by the company to give a smartphone experience but in low budget. We will see in this review how this phone has fared.
Like all the other Micromax Canvas phones, the Lite A92 also has the smooth curved look. The phone is 10.8mm thick and has the camera jutting out of the back cover. The chassis is aluminium and the back cover is plastic. The grip is strong and at no point you will feel that it is slipping from your grasp. The screen is 5 inch and fills up to almost end to end. The battery life of the phone is around 10 hours with regular use.
The phone runs on Android Jellybean Software. The UI is simple and Micromax has added nothing new to it. The phone is comfortable to use and the UI does not hang up the phone. The phone has a 1 GHz dual core processor and only 512MB of RAM, which is very disappointing. The phone has only 4GB of internal memory and an expandable memory slot of 32GB. 512MB of RAM is very less for a smartphone but games like Temple Run 2 run well on the phone if you do not have too many apps open. The screen resolution is only 480x800 pixels.
The phone supports both 2G and 3G networks. The call quality is decent but not good in crowded rooms. The phone book is Android and easy to work on. Dual SIM is an advantage feature of the phone.
Standard messaging and basic email features are available on the phone.
Gallery contains photos, videos, songs and documents. These can be sorted out in many ways. Photos can be sorted in albums, date taken etc. You can upload photos directly to the social media sites from the photo viewer. The video player supports MP4, 3GP, AVI formats. The large 5-inch screen does add to the pleasure of video playback.
Music player on the phone is average. The sound from the earphones is not good but if you know how to tweak the equalizer you can get decent sound out of it. The loudspeaker sound is also average. FM radio is present in the phone and it comes with a recording feature.
Most phones of today are measured with the quality of their camera. Lite A92 lacks in this department. The rear camera is only 5MP and the front camera is basic .3MP. The camera is not good even with flash. Features include Night Mode, Multi-shot Mode, Fixed Focus, Flash Support, and Brightness Level - 5x
Videos can be recorded for resolution up to 640x480 and @30fps. Video recording does not handle fast movements well.
Connectivity options on the phone include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, 3G and USB. Wi-Fi hotspot is available.
Various tools on the phone include Multi-tasking, Games, English and Hindi Language Support, Calculator, Calendar, Alarm, World Clock, and Call Blacklist
Android browser is present on the phone. The browser is not very fast and if you use any high data websites then it will be a long wait for them to load perfectly.
GPS and Google maps are present on the phone. GPS of the phone is a tad slow and we suggest that you load the maps beforehand your journey if you are using this phone.
The phone is priced INR 8300 (approx., may vary) in the Indian market. The phone does not give the feel of a smartphone and lacks in many important features.
We would rate the phone a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
