The Micromax A87 Ninja 4.0 measures about 124.8mm by 64mm by 11.7mm. Its slim-built design makes this low-end Smartphone highly portable. The phone is also attractive with its curvy candy bar shape available in either black or white colors.
The A87 has a 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 256K colors. The 4-inch display has an image resolution of about 480 by 800 pixels. This resolution output is average in quality in comparison with other 4-inch display smartphones such as the Sony Xperia P. However, the multi-touch interface makes the phone quite comfortable to use.
The Micromax A87 Ninja is a dual SIM handset that runs on both 2G and 3G networks. Hence, you can make personal and business calls using this phone from multiple global locations. Its phonebook can store numerous contact details under the phone’s internal memory.
Users can send and receive both SMS and MMS using the Micromax A87 Ninja. SMS’s are viewable in threaded form for easier reading and reply. The phone can also send and receive Email Messages as well as Instant Messages via browser or email applications.
The A87 Ninja has an internal gallery that allows you to store multimedia files. You can view and edit images using the inbuilt photo viewer. However, the phone lacks a special video player.
The A87 Ninja 4 allows audio playback for MP3, MP4, WMA, and .WAV music files. You can listen to radio by plugging in 3.5mm jack pin headsets or earphones.
You can take still photos using the 2-megapixel camera at the back of the Micromax A87. This camera produces images with about 1600 by 1200 pixels, which is somewhat poor quality for a Smartphone despite its geo-tagging ability.
The Micromax A87 Ninja can record videos using the same -megapixel camera that takes photos. At 1600 by 1200 pixels, videos are quite poor in quality in comparison to other low-end smartphones such as the Nokia Asha 311.
The Micromax Ninja 4.0 allows ample connectivity via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB. The phone can access data at any Wi-Fi hotspot. Bluetooth v2.1 allows you to exchange multimedia files with other compatible devices. Micro USB v2.0 allows PC access and synchronization using a data cable.
The A87 organizer consists of a calendar, calculator, Alarm Clock, and world clock. A Google Sync tool allows you to receive updates from the OS provider.
You can access the internet using the Micromax Ninja 4 by downloading a suitable browser from Google’s Play Store. The default Android browser also gives you access to the internet via the phone’s GRPS, EDGE, and JAVA enabled data systems. The A87 comes pre-loaded with “Hook Up” “Weather Widget” “Facebook” and other simple applications. Numerous other apps are available from Google’s Play Store.
The A87 comes with Social Network Integration (SNS) that allows you to share content on different web pages to your different social media accounts.
A new Micromax A87 Ninja costs around INR 6000 (approx., may vary). This is good value in comparison to similar priced smartphones on the market such as the Samsung Galaxy Y and Samsung Galaxy Mini.
The Micromax A87 is a low-end Smartphone with ample features for users. It has a fast processor that enables you to access and enjoy entertainment and information from different applications with ease. Its major drawback is limited internal memory that requires you to upgrade using a MicroSD.
