Micromax Canvas Doodle A111 has made people look differently at smart phones. You can write, draw, and take notes on this phone directly.
The phone looks like a super smart phone and fulfils all those qualities. The build of the phone is durable. The phone comes with two screen guards, which do a good job or protecting the screen. The back of the phone gives you a firm grip. The dimensions of the phone are 77x147x9.9 mm. the phone appears large and the huge logo at the back looks out of place. The battery of the phone will last you for 6 hours with normal usage, which is pretty less for a smart phone. The phone comes with a stylus that is supposed to enable you to ‘doodle’ on the set but the stylus is too small in size.
The phone runs on Android Jellybean OS. It has 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. The RAM is very less for a high-end phone and this slows down the phone a bit. The processor is quad core 1.2 GHz. The screen size is 5.3 inches with a resolution of 480 x 854 Pixels. The resolution of the phone is not up to the mark and the screen feels very old school. The screen is responsive to touch but the viewing pleasure is not great. Only 1.2 GB of internal memory is available for the use, which is very less for high-end apps. On the other hand, all the apps can be installed on the external memory card, which is a plus for the phone. Overall, the Jellybean OS is easy to use but the stylus that comes with the phones takes a lot of fun out of its capabilities.
The phone supports dual SIM and both 2G and 3G options. The call quality is good. Phone book entries can be as much as you want. Voice calling, photo contacts, social media integration are some of the features that are available with the phone.
Standard messaging features and email are available on the phone. Threaded view makes it easier to sort and view your messages.
The gallery is pretty standard like with all android-based phones. The photo viewer is easy to use and navigate. The video player supports all the popular formats but there are not many sorting options available. The screen resolution prevents you from viewing the videos comfortably.
Music player supports all popular formats. The music player of the phone is good and you can entertain a small group using the music on the phone. FM radio is very easy to handle and navigate.
There are two cameras on the phone, the one at the rear is 8MP and the one in front is 2MP. Both the cameras are good and serve the purpose. The rear camera includes various properties like Auto focus, touch focus, Face detection, and wide-angle photography, which gives you clear and crisp photos.
The video camera can record 720p@30fps. Video recording is smooth and without lags.
The phone has usual connectivity options that include Bluetooth, NFS, USB, 3G, GPRS, Edge, and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi speed is average but the 3g is good.
Apart from the usual utility tools, the phone comes with the Evernote app with premium features free for 3 months. The phone supports both Hindi and English languages.
Android browser is satisfactory and lets you save bookmarks for easy referencing. Apps on the phone include Facebook, Stich, Twitter, Google play, M!live and M! Zone etc. The widgets are all resizable.
Navigation is a possible with Google maps that come with the phone. The large screen of the phones makes navigation a tab bit easier.
The most distinctive feature of the phone is the stylus. We wish that the stylus would have been a bit longer for better access.
The phone is priced at INR 12000 (approx., may vary) in the Indian market. The price of the phone is just right because it has all the features but sadly none of the features excel.
