The LG Optimus L7 II is essentially an upgrade of the L5 II model and best fits the mid-range smartphone market. LG has added some unique features in this gadget in a bid to capture the ever-growing trends in the smartphone market.
The overall design of LG Optimus L7 II is quite appealing. It is both light and slim but this does not deprive you of a solid feel. The phone rocks a 4.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive screen with cool 16 million colors and resolution of 480x800 pixels. Dimensions are 121.5 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm. The smartphone has 768 MB of RAM, a 1 GHz Dual-core processor, and a 2460 mAh battery. A swift CPU and a long lasting battery set it apart from other counterparts in the sequel. The memory is expandable up to 32 GB.
LG Optimus L7 II comes equipped with the latest user interface from LG - the Optimus UI 3.0. This makes it incredibly easier to access a wide range of applications with admirable ease.
When it comes to telephony, voice dialling and voice commands come in handy. The phonebook allows you to store unlimited contacts, and search for last and first name. It also includes options for searching both Picture ID and Ring ID.
The messaging options and enhancements on the handset include SMS, MMS threaded view and predictive text input. Email support includes Push Email, IM, SMTP, IMAP and Microsoft Exchange.
In the gallery, you have a photo viewer, music player and video player. Supported image files include PNG, JPEG, and GIF. For video, you have MP4, H.263 and H.264.
The phone has FM Radio that you can listen to via either the phone’s inbuilt loudspeaker or earphones/headphones. Music player features include artists, album, playlists, as well as background playback. Audio quality is good.
The 8MP camera is indeed a marvellous feature in this phone. The camera has 3264 x 2448 pixels features LED flash and has autofocus functionality. Other features include face tracking, image share, continuous shot, and panorama shot.
LG Optimus L7 II has a 720p@30fps video camera. The resolution will definitely give great video shots during the day.
On the connectivity side, the handset supports EDGE, HSPDA (21 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76 Mbps), 3G, GPRS as well as Wi-Fi. The phone comes with a Near-Field Communication chip to enable communicate wirelessly with NFC-enabled devices.
Organizer tools include, among others, a calendar, alarm, and a calculator.
The smartphone runs a HTML browser and comes loaded with Google apps such as Play Store, Latitude, Plus, Gmail, Search, Messenger, Talk and YouTube.
The phone has Google Maps with navigation. GPS with A-GPS support is available.
Features that stick out include a digital compass and an accelerometer.
The LG Optimus L7 II is arguably the best handset in LG’s L range of handsets. This is not a bad deal for smartphone enthusiasts who want to take their user experience a notch higher.
The smooth operation, 8MP camera and the overall stylish design make the phone quite impressive. However, the phone could become an epitome of performance if web surfing is given a boost.
