LG Optimus L5 II is a 3G smartphone that comes as an addition to the L-style brand. Some of its key highpoints are the bumped-up features as well as the upgraded software. Budget offering seems to be the theme for Optimus L5 II and therefore it is most likely to appeal to this market with ease.
It has a 4-inch IPS display screen with HVGA resolution of 480 x 800 and a pixel density of 233ppi. In terms of dimensions, the phone measures 117.5 x 62.2 x 9.2 mm, which makes it quite comfortable to hold. In additional to its plastic makeup, the phone features a metallic-looking rim on the edges, which gives it a first-class look. With a 512 MB RAM, 4GB internal memory and a 1 GHz single core processor, the phone purely puts itself in the low-end smartphone market. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and rocks a 1700mAh battery.
The home buttons beneath the screen, which has LED light surrounding it, makes it incredibly easier to manoeuver on the menu.
Telephony options include voice dialling and voice commands. You can also trace call records such as call duration, missed calls, and dialled numbers. The phonebook accommodates unlimited entries and you can search for Ring ID, Picture ID or either the first or last name.
Supported messaging options include SMS. MMS, predictive text input and Threaded view. For emails, you have IMAP, SMTP, POP3, Push Email, IM and Microsoft Exchange.
The gallery gives you access to recordings, images and videos. The phone also features a photo viewer and a video player. The photo viewer supports JPEG, PNG and GIF formats.
LG Optimus L5 II has an MP4/WMV/H.263/H.264 and MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ player. The sound quality for TBD radio does not disappoint.
The smartphone has a 5MP (2592 x 1944) pixels auto-focus camera with an LED flash. The camera is ideal for both day and night shots. It also has a geo-tagging feature.
The VGA video camera is on the lower end of the quality spectrum.
These include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 (microUSB), and NFC. Other features include OTA Sync, Computer Sync and Tethering.
The handset offers standard organizer features including, among others, a calendar, alarm, and calculator. However, it does also offer a few nonstandard features such as a compass and an accelerometer
The smartphone utilizes a HTML 5 browser. It also has Java (via Java MIDP emulator).
LG Optimus L5 II has both Google Maps and GPS positioning with A-GPS support.
Its unique features include Mobile Hotspot Tethering as well as the ambient light sensor in the display.
Many industry experts expect the handset to retail at a price of about INR 14000 (approx., may vary) across major cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. At that price point, it would probably make it one of the cheapest smartphones in the market.
The LG Optimus L5 II is undoubtedly a promising and affordable smartphone at the same time. LG has deftly addressed the needs of the low-end market through this smartphone and it is indeed worth buying.
