With the release of the LG Optimus II E430, LG Corporation seems committed to reaffirm its keen interest on addressing the needs of low-end customers in the smart phone market.
LG Optimus L3 II E430 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is driven by a 1 GHz single-core processor, which is quite satisfactory for an entry-level smartphone. The phone comes with a 3.2-inch QVGA screen display (240 x 320) pixels. The pixel density of 125ppi in its capacitive multi-touch screen is irrefutably mediocre and may not auger well with users looking for exceptional display. The phone measures 4.04 x 2.43 x 0.46 inches (102.6 x 61.1 x 11.9 mm). The battery sports a 1500mAh capacity, which gives you 10 hours of talk time and 600 hours of standby time in 3G. It comes with one GB internal memory that one can expand up to 32GB using either a microSDHC or a microSD card.
The phone features the usual LG’s home keys at the bottom of the screen for quick access of the menu items as well as side buttons for scrolling through the various menu icons.
Telephony features include voice dialling, voice commands. The phonebook has unlimited entries and you can search for contacts using Ring ID, Picture ID or either the first or the last name.
Messaging options include SMS, MMS, predictive text input and threaded view. Email options include IMAP, SMTP, push email, and Microsoft Exchange.
The gallery features images, video and audio recordings. Supported image files include JPEG, GIF, and PNG.
The music player allows you to filter music by artist, album, and playlists. The smartphone has an RDS FM radio that you can listen to either via the loudspeaker or headphones or earphones. Good sound quality. Supported media files include H.263, H.264 and MP4 (Video) and MP3, AAC+, AAC and WAV (Audio).
LG Optimus L3 II E430 comes with a 3.2MP with features such as exposure compensation, ISO control, Geo tagging, white balance presets, self-timer, scenes and effects. Low resolution, the lack of both autofocus and flash makes it rank much lower.
The phone has a 640x480 (VGA) camcorder. This is indeed a quite lower resolution for a standard video shot.
On the connectivity options front, the handset offers Bluetooth (2.1 + A2DP, EDR), HDMI, USB (microUSB 2.0), 3G, Wi-Fi and WLAN (802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n).
Some of the organizer tools on the handset include calendar, alarm, and a calculator.
Web browser options include WAP 2.0, HTML 5 and Adobe Flash. Applications include Google Voice Search, Google Talk, Care Apps, Google, MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and Quick Demo.
Both Google Maps and GPS with positioning are present.
The digital compass, Google Play Store and DLNA are likely to set it apart from its competitors in the same category.
Industry experts expect the handset to retail for, on average, INR 12000 (approx., may vary) in major cities across India including Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The smartphone is worth the money, considering the specs and its target market.
LG Optimus L3 II430 is an affordable and stylish smartphone for low-end smartphone users.
