The LG GW300 has a full QWERTY keypad and a sleek design. The center of the device has a three circular buttons that control directions, menu, clear, call, and end features. It weights roughly 95 grams and sports a 2.4 inch screen. The device has a silver, plastic backing and has a solid build quality.
A proprietary LG user interface offers a simple, easy to use way to operate the device. You can fit the device into your pocket and use it easily with one hand.
Up to 1000 contacts and their picture can be stored on the phonebook. You can also save up to 100 of your received, dialled, and missed calls.
A threaded view for text messages will allow you to have a chat-style experience. You can also send/receive multimedia messages. Access to your emails and instant messaging is also available.
There is a gallery for viewing, storing, and deleting your photos on. There is not a video player for watching videos on the device.
If you want to listen to music, you can load up to a 16 GB microSD card. Music in MP3, MP4, eAAC+, and WMA files are supported. Local radio stations can be played using the FM radio feature on the GW300.
A 2MP camera is capable of outputting a 1600x1200 pixel resolution. The camera lacks auto focus, flash, and an ambient light senor for automatic screen brightness adjustment. Due to this, the image quality is quite low.
Video can be recorded on the GW300, though the quality will be similar to that of the photo-taking experience.
You can connect to a 2G GSM network in 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz bands. MicroUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support will give you some options for file transferring. There is no Wi-fi support.
Some basic organization tools are available on the GW300 including an organizer and voice memo.
A WAP 2.0 browser will allow you to surf the web.
GPS is not a supported feature on the GW300.
There are a couple embedded applications such as Just Cricket, Data Wallet, RockeTalk, LG Helpdesk, News Hunt, and NDTV active. There is also an anti-theft mobile tracker. Your Facebook and Twitter can also be accessed easily via embedded applications.
The camera on the GW300 is very poor, as is the speed of the user interface. The strengths in the device lie in its call quality, battery, and reception. If those are your primary desires in a device, the GW300 is a good buy.
