Designed with a candy bar form factor, the LG GM730 has rounded edges to give it a more premium feel. Below the three inch resistive touchscreen is a call, end, and center button. The overall build quality ends up being good due to the solid plastic boy.
With a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system, the GM730 is a bit dated with the new Windows 8 platform out. You won't be able to upgrade this device to the new Windows 8 software. Due to the lack of popularity with the Windows operating system, it will not be very familiar to many users. Once you play around with the user interface, it is fairly easy to navigate.
Your text messages will show up in a chat style threaded view format. Sending a multimedia message will also be no problem. There is also email support for your personal and work contacts. In addition, you can use MSN messenger and other instant messaging applications to communicate quickly with others.
The gallery will allow you to view your stored pictures. A video player will be able to play MP4, H.263, and H.264 files.
The music player has a nice interface and will play MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA files. You can install a microSD with up to 16 GB of space to make room for your library. IN case you are tired of your music or don't have any of your own, there is an FM radio. Audio quality is very good through the loudspeaker and even better when you plug in a pair of headphones.
Made by Schneider-Kreuznach optics, the 5MP camera can output a 2592x1966 pixel resolution. There is also an autofocus feature. Sadly, a flash is absent from the GM730.
You are able to record video on the GM730.
This is a tri-band device that is available on 2G GSM networks on 900, 1800, and 1900 bands. 3G HSDPA on 900, 1900 and 2100 are also available networks. There is also Bluetooth and microUSB connectivity.
There is an organizer and a pocket Office built into the device. The Office software includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note and PDF viewer.
A WAP 2.0 gives you the ability to access the internet.
There is GPS with A-GPS support on the GM730.
The GM730 can be purchased for a price of Rs. 19,500 (approx., may vary).
The resistive touchscreen is a very big turnoff and the features are very average. The battery will only get through about a day. Given that there are more powerful devices at the same price, the GM730 should be avoided.
