A trendsetter with a serious wallet may be interested in the LG GD910 watch that doubles as a phone. This watch phone has a faux leather strap. It is not the most comfortable watch to put around your wrist so it would have been ice for LG to put a flexible metal strap instead. The watch phone itself is going to be much bulkier than your average watch, with good reason. The display is a capacitive touchscreen and outputs a 160x128 display. The water resistant stainless steel case will give it some durability and gives it a high build quality.
The LG proprietary interface it intuitive and easy to use. The trouble is that the small screen can make it challenging to type on the device. There isn't much customizability of the watch phone for people who may want to tweak it to their needs.
There is a phonebook that can store contacts and a call recording feature as well.
You can send/receive SMS, EMS, and MMS messages, though the screen will make it difficult to accurately type a message. It does have text to speech capability and speech recognition.
There is a media player, but with only 80 MB of memory and no expansion options, you really aren't going to be able to store much in terms of pictures on the GD910.
There is an MP3 player that shows little due to the low internal memory. It would have made more sense for LG to add an FM radio for this reason. A head jack is absent from the GD 910 for obvious reasons.
Surprisingly, there is a VGA camera that is capable of taking images in 640x480 resolution. It is the bare bones of picture taking, so you won't find yourself using it often.
There is not a video camera on the GD910.
The LG GD910 will work on 2G GSM networks 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 bands. Also, 3G HSDPA 2100 band will be supported. Bluetooth connectivity up to 2.0 with A2DP will allow you to hook up a Bluetooth headset to the watch phone.
A calendar and memo pad will add to your functionality on the GD910.
There is a built in browser that will allow you to connect to the internet. Good luck surfing the web on its tiny screen.
GPS is not a supported feature.
The starting price for the GD910 is Rs. 37,599 (approx., may vary).
LG has made a high quality, stylish product with the GD910. The touchscreen and user interface work well on the device. Its lack of features and expensive price tag make it hard to justify purchasing it. Ultimately, unless you have more money that you know what to do with, there really isn't a reason to purchase this watch phone.
