Xolo A500S is a well designed Android smartphone released in August 2013 by an Indian manufacturer, Lava. It has a dual SIM compatibility with dual stand-by support and it uses mini SIM. The phone offers a variety of themes which lets you change the phone skin according to your mood.

Display and Dimensions

The phone boasts a big 4.0-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen along with a display resolution of 480x800 pixels. The phone responds beautifully to the touch gestures and support multi touch gestures. The screen flaunts a 16M colors depth and 233ppi pixel density to provide a sharp visuals. With the overall dimensions of 125mm height, 63.2mm width, 9mm thickness and weight of 120 grams, the phone is slim and lightweight. Below the screen, there are three soft keys for calling, menu and back options.

Processing and OS

At the heart, A500S packs a 1.3GHz dual core processor with MediaTek MT6572W chipset and Mali-400 GPU to let the users run multiple programs at the same time. Running the device is an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system which is coupled with 512MB RAM to ensure the smooth app performance.

Connectivity

The phone relies on microUSB port and 3.5mm jack for the PC connectivity and data transfer along with a Bluetooth to assist a wireless data connectivity. You can surf the internet with services like Wi-Fi, EDGE and GPRS. The HSDPA connectivity offers a speedy browsing and downloading experience. To view the directions and map, phone has a GPS with A-GPS support.

Camera and Storage

Xolo A500S offers a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and Geo-tagging features to capture and save all your favorite moments. The picture resolution provided by the phone is 2592x1944 pixels and it is capable of recording videos of 720p at 30fps. The LED flash offered with camera enables you to click good quality pictures even in dim lights. At the front, it also includes a 0.3 MP camera for the selfies of normal quality. On the storage front, it includes 4GB internal memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

Battery

Under the hood, Xolo A500S has a 1400mAH battery which delivers a 2G and 3G talk time of up to 10 hours and 8 hours respectively, stand-by time of 492 hours and 470 hours respectively, 3G browsing time of 4 hours and music playback time of up to 53 hours.

Other Features

For mailing and messaging, you have various options like Gmail, Google Talk, SMS, MMS, Email, IM and push Email. It also offers predictive text input method which makes typing easy and faster. For the music buff, it has audio player and FM Radio. Some other productive tools like maps, YouTube, calendar, voice memo, document viewer, organizer, image/video editor Google search are also present on the phone.
