The Karbonn K10 may be deemed as a clone of the Blackberry but it is a pretty adequate clone nonetheless—at least for those who couldn’t afford the Blackberry. Brand and make aside, the handset has most of what we need in a mobile phone. We get the usual messaging and connectivity function as well as the entertainment function. Here we talk about some of the distinct aspects of the Karbonn K10 let’s see if this would do for you.
If there’s anything that the Karbonn K10 has that Blackberry doesn’t (and that’s already a great feat), that would be the Karbonn’s dual SIM capabilities. Now you can use two different networks on a single phone and enjoy the perks of both. Too bad, the Karbonn does not allow us to take advantage this feature to its optimum in terms of talk-time as the K10 merely last for 2.5 hours. Worse, the charging time is really long; it could take up to 4 hours to make it fully charged.
The K10 also has the usual connectivity options that most phones have even during the pre-smart phones stage. It has a USB interface that syncs well with PC.
Like the Blackberry, the Karbonn K10 can be connected to the internet allowing the expansion of its messaging capabilities to not be limited to text messaging. It has built-in support for Facebook, Twitter, eMSN, and eBuddy and it also allows you to download an email client of your choice.
For a Blackberry Curve clone, you can’t really expect a lot about the K10’s image quality. Its 2.0 TFT LCD display is even smaller than Blackberry Curve 8520 but similarly, the resolution is 320 x 240 pixels. When it comes to camera, you have to make do with a 1.3 megapixel.
Navigation with the Karbonn K10 is quite simple. It does have the same menu layout as a Blackberry. The shortcuts are at the bottom of desktop wallpaper and you have to option to change profiles to menu icons, much like its idol. The only difference is the submenu which finally tells us that the handset is in no way going to be Blackberry. It has a Java OS and its response time can be a bit frustrating after all. Not to mention, there are no dedicated keys for some important multimedia functions such as the camera and the music player.
Karbonn K10 also uses Blackberry’s famous QWERTY keypad—only, this one’s significantly smaller; you could barely type on it. But you could get use to the ordeal and soon you would find using it increasingly easier.
Aside from its dual SIM capabilities, another distinctive feature that you wouldn’t believe it has a decent 259 KB internal memory expandable to up to 8 GB. Now that’s a load of applications, music and videos you can run through the handset.
