Android OS has transformed the perception of a smartphone altogether. Due to the fact that this is an open source operating system, the days of corporate giants monopolizing the smartphone market are over. Today, in India, you can easily find an Android phone from Rs 6000 to Rs 50000. There is a myriad of under Rs. 10000 phones available in the market with features bound to surprise you! One such phone is Karbonn A21 that comes fully loaded with chic specs and a design you’ll not find in this sort of budget anywhere else.
The Karbonn A21 has been specifically released for the Indian market. The phone tops much of its competition by delivering a 4.5 inch screen with a classy HTC Sensation kind of back cover. This helps Karbonn A21 knock out its competition when it comes to looks and feel.
The Karbonn A21 comes packed with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and like most other phones from the same category, it supports dual-SIM. The phone operates on standard GSM frequencies and allows simultaneous usage of both SIM cards. Having said this, the screen is also an impressive factor. The 4.5 Inch TFT capacitive display ensures a pretty-much lag free experience. To us, the miniature 512 MB RAM is a source of woe for sure. We certainly believe that the RAM should have been 1 GB at least to support the dual core processor.
The phone features Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS with very little customization done from manufacturer. This is also a great thing since manufacturer customization and theming of the Android OS sometimes result in lag. Like all other Android phones, the phone comes preloaded with Google Apps as well as native Android gallery, camera, email, dialler and SMS app.
The primary camera aka the back camera of the phone is 5 MP. The front cam is VGA and can be easily used to video call over Skype, Viber and Tango apps. On the other hand, the primary camera isn’t that powerful but you can definitely use it for casual photography or video recording. However, there are many apps in the Google Play store that let you polish your camera and take better pictures or videos.
Karbonn A21 comes with 4GB internal storage. Out of this storage, 2GB are dedicated for user operations while the other half is meant for internal Android operations. There is a microSD card slot that lets you expand the user memory up to 32 GB.
All in all, the Karbonn A21 is a good phone for an under 10K Android gadget. However, the shortage of RAM and battery drainage are a source of concern, but we are sure there are apps in Google Play store that can help you with freeing RAM frequently as well as control the battery drainage. The phone doesn’t give a phablet look; however, if you are looking to exceed the screen size, then going for Micromax A110 might be a good idea.
