Intex Aqua S is an entry level Android based phone from Intex. Intex is a known brand in the market of computer peripherals. The phone has all the features of a smartphone and keeps you connected to your work, home and friends at all times.

Intex Aqua S Design and Build Quality

The phone is bar shaped with touch screen and touch input. The screen of the phone is not scratch resistant, which, according to us is a big drawback. The phone is available in a soft white colour and graphite black, which gives it a very rich colour. The phone dimensions are 116 x 60.5 x 13 mm and the weight is 138 grams, which is a little more than we would have liked. The build quality of the phone is sturdy and the surface is smooth to touch. The phone is comfortable to hold in hand and does not slip even when you are using your thumb to type.

User Interface and Comfort to Use Intex Aqua S

The phone comes with a super-fast 1 GHz processor with a 256 MB of RAM, which makes it a very fast phone. It is quick to respond to touch inputs. The screen is an impressive 3.5 inch with capacitive touch input of 320 x 480 pixels resolution. You can easily view movies on the phone. The on screen keyboard in portrait mode is a little uncomfortable to use because of closely placed keys in QWERTY mode but in landscape mode, it is a treat to use. The phone has an inbuilt memory of 128 MB and an extendable memory slot of 32GB support. The phone supports dual SIM and dual standby. The OS is Android Gingerbread V. 2.3.6. G-Sensor, Proximity, accelerometer sensor are available on the phone to make it easier to use.

Telephony and Phonebook

The phone supports Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, 2100 network and the call quality of the phone is very good. You can easily switch between two SIMs when receiving or making the calls. The phone of the phone can store unlimited entries. The call button takes you to the screen of call logs. You can also give a voice command to open the contact that you want. The phone talk time with full charge is 5 hours.

The phone has an inbuilt good quality FM Radio. The music player supports all music formats and has an audio equalizer, which you can sue to optimize the sound according to your taste. The sound quality of the phone is bordering on great even in the full volume loudspeaker mode. With the use of 3.5mm jack you can connect the headset to the phone but at full volume the voice breaks when listening to headset.

The phone has an impressive 5MP back camera and VGA front camera. The camera has flash and 4x digital zoom. The picture resolution is 2592x1944 pixels. The phone gives impressive pictures even at night.

Video Camera and Video Quality

Video recording can be done from both cameras. The rear camera supports 720p and playback at 25 fps, which means that your videos are recorded at high quality and playback is impressive.

Intex Aqua S Connectivity Options

The phone does not support 3G but supports GPRS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB and has assisted GPS support. The Bluetooth supports A2DP and you can use this phone as a modem and Wi-Fi hotspot to connect your other devices.

Value for Money

The phone is priced at INR 6750 (approx., may vary) which is a little high from our point of view. More features could have been incorporated for this price such as more photo editing, direct upload to social sites etc.

Verdict

The phone is running on an out-dated Gingerbread OS and has not updated itself for a long time. At the price you would accept updated iOS. We would give the phone 3 out of 5 stars for having a powerful processor but old OS.
