The Huawei Ascend is a Windows phone and Android smartphones series made by Huawei. The company has introduced several successful phones in this series like 'Huawei Ascend D Quad', 'Huawei Ascend D Quad XL' and 'Huawei Ascend D1'. Huawei Ascend D1 Quad is another gem from the company's huge collection available in Black shade. Inside the box, aside from the battery and phone, the user get a USB cable, user manual, charger, headset and warranty card.

Display and Dimensions

The device bears a 4.5 inch IPS LCD display that carries a resolution of 720x1280 pixels along with 16 million color support. For the protection of screen, it has Corning Gorilla Glass which helps to save the display from scratches. A pixel density of 326 is similar to the ppi of the 'Google Nexus 4' and 'Apple iPhone 5' but a little below the 4.3 inch Sony Xperia's models. The display visibility of the bar shaped device is superb from all possible angles. Talking about its dimensions, it has got a height of 129.9 mm, a width of 64.9 mm, a thickness of 9.3 mm and weighs at 132 grams.

Processor and Operating System

Running on Android v4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, it is powered by 1.4 GHz Quad-core processor paired with 8GB of RAM. It comes equipped with HI3620+IMC XMM6260 chipset.

Camera and Storage

At the back, there is an 8MP autofocus camera with digital zoom and dual-LED flash that packs a resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. On the other side, the 1.3MP front camera comes with a resolution of 1280x1024 pixels which is made to do video calls and to click selfies or self portraits. The device comes equipped with an internal storage of 8GB which can be additionally expanded upto 32GB by using memory card slot.

Connectivity and Battery

In terms of connectivity, the Huawei Ascend D1 Quad features 3G, A-GPS, bluetooth v3.0, GPS, HDMI, USB, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Under the hood, it is fueled by Li-Po 1800 mAh battery which provides a talktime of upto 8 hours and stand-by time of upto 400 hours.

Multimedia and Other Features

The multimedia attributes offered by the company are 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, image viewer, music player, video player, video recording and games. It also comes pre-loaded with social apps i.e. 'Facebook' and 'Twitter' for fun and entertainment. For messaging, you can use SMS, MMS and Email service in order to send and receive mails and texts.
