The HTC Google Nexus One is one of the most advertised Android Phones on the market right now; though for good reason. It has some of the best software and is backed with some of the most powerful hardware in a Smart Phone. The superior technology at work does not come cheap, the unlocked phone typically costs around $530 with a phone purchased during a contract costing around $180. Despite, the cost, this phone is worth every dollar, a hefty amount of features in a nice design makes this a top of the line Smart Phone.
This HTC Smart Phone was designed for Google’s Android operating system and powered by a 1GHz processor. This phone contains 512MB RAM and 32MB internal memory with a Micro SD card slot capable of using a Micro SD card up to 32GB. The 3.7 inch touch screen displays in 720p High Resolution over a pixel area of 854x480. You can take pictures on the go with the 5 mega-pixel camera that has an LED flash. The camera can also record video, capturing 720x480 video at 20 frames per second.
This Smart Phone was designed to look smooth and appealing. The front of the phone is wrapped with a metallic bezel to protect the surface, while the back of the phone is covered with a plastic material that has a rubbery feel to it, making the phone comfortable to hold. The Nexus One is slimmer than the Apple iPhone and less box shaped than the previously released Droid Smart Phone.
The buttons that are used on the face of the phone were designed to make navigation of the controls on the Nexus One easier; though, the provided trackball is difficult to use. The trackball is one of the few areas where HTC failed in the design of the Nexus One, the trackball is difficult to use for scrolling, with the only real use being to select text. The face of the Nexus One also has four touch buttons. They provide quick access to the home button, basic menu, back button, and search. These buttons, like the trackball, end up not serving much use. The buttons do not always work when pressed.
The HTC Nexus One has been released running on Android 2.1, the latest Android release. There are many updated features that have been added to Android; however, the majority of Android Smart Phones will eventually be able to receive this Android update, meaning that you might not have to purchase this latest Smart Phone in order to reap the benefits of the latest Android operating system.
While this Smart Phone does include a lot of processing power, a lot of it goes to waste on unnecessary features that drain your battery. HTC has developed live wallpapers that serve no useful function; the wallpapers are simply animated backgrounds that provide some form interaction. This is a powerful phone running on the latest Android operating system. While there are several flaws in the design, they don’t do enough to detract from the value of the phone.
