Gionee CTRL V5 is an Android based smartphone with the power of quad core processor. It got announced in April, 2014 and is available in the markets now. Its box contents includes a handset, battery, headset, charger, data cable, user manual, two screen protectors and a carrying case.

Dimensions and Display

The phone comes with a height of 134.5 mm, a width of 67.7 mm and a thickness of 8.07 mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 103.5 grams. Its front is dominated by a 4.7 inches capacitive and multi-touch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 540x960 pixels.

Hardware and Software

Gionee CTRL V5 has integrated the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System with the leading 1.3 GHz Quad Core MediaTek processor and 1 GB RAM. The device has on-board memory of 8GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD slot. Presence of ARM Mali 400 GPU ensures amazing gaming experience. There are stacks of sensors including Motion, Proximity, E-Compass, Accelerometer and G sensors to have effective operations.

Telephony and Messaging

Gionee Ctrl V5 has the Dual SIM capability with Dual Stand-by support. It operates on 2G ( GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz ) and 3G ( WCDMA 900 / 2100 MHz ) network frequencies. SMS, MMS, Email and IM are some of the facilities available for the messaging. Presence of Voice Memo feature helps you to send / receive voice messages and T9 dictionary and Predictive text input feature helps in typing faster and accurately.

Camera

The device performs well on the camera front. It has a 8 MP camera at the back with 4x Digital Zoom, 2x Optical Zoom, auto-focus and LED Flash that ensures superior quality pictures in normal as well as low light conditions. Other camera settings include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection. For self clickers, it has a 2 MP wide angle front camera that provide a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels.

Entertainment

On the entertainment part, it features music player, image viewer, video recorder, video player, games, FM radio and ringtones. You can also edit the images and and videos. It has inbuilt Google Search, Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail and YouTube applications. Other apps and games that have been included in the phone are Yahoo Cricket, Facebook, Fishing Joy, WPS, Texas Paker and Whats App. Plus availability of 3.5 mm jack further increases its capabilities.

Connectivity and Battery

The device has connectivity options for GPRS, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, EDGE, Bluetooth, USB and Handsfree. It also features GPS with A-GPS support to help in navigation. The phone houses a Li-Po battery of 1800 mAh along with Heart Best Synchronizing technology that helps to decrease power consumption.
