The Gfive U505 is a candy bar style phone with an alphanumeric keypad. The 2.4 inch screen takes up the majority of the space on the front of the phone. Its plastic body will give you about an average build quality.
A Gfive proprietary interface will be make navigation very simple. The small form factor makes the U505 easy to use with one hand. Messaging may be a bit more difficult due to the alphanumeric keypad than a phone with a QWERTY keyboard.
You can store up to 500 entries on the U505 plus store even more on the SIM. The call log will keep track of all your received, missed, and dials phone calls.
Other than communicating via a phone call, you can also send SMS text messages. Multimedia is also a supported feature and you can even send a mass MMS to several of your contacts. You will not be able to set up your personal or business emails with the U505.
The basic gallery will allow you to view and delete your photos. MP4 and 3GP videos can also be viewed on the device. The low resolution screen is not adequate for continuous use as a video player.
MP4 and MIDI music will both play via the music player. An FM radio will also give you the option to listen to local stations. Audio quality is adequate for a device in this category. Up to a 4GB memory card can be installed to make space for your music.
With a 0.3 MP camera, the U505 really isn't meant to be your choice to capture your moments. Shots will turn out grainy and low light situations will further hurt the phone's ability to take decent shots. There are several features available such as continuous shot, still shot, five white balance modes, automatic WB, and others.
Videos can be shot on the U505 though they will turn out even worse than your camera pictures.
As a dual SIM device, the U505 can operate on GSM 900 and 1800 bands. Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 will give you some ability to transfer your files to other devices.
There is not a native web browser on the U505.
GPS is not an available feature.
At a price of Rs. 1,424 (approx., may vary), the U505 is a very affordable Dual SIM device. This phone is made for basic phone users who want the flexibility of having a dual SIM capable device. It is not a multimedia powerhouse; its strength lays in its solid battery life and call quality. If you use your phone for phone functions like calling and texting, this is the device for you.
