Blackberry is one of the popular brands among smartphones. The company has announced a new smartphone the Passport in June, 2014. It is a different style statement of Blackberry having bold looks. The box comes packed with a handset, charger, battery, USB cable, earphone, user manual and a warranty card. Let's take a closer look at its specifications.
Blackberry Passport is a square shaped device with a QWERTY keypad. The device grabs attention of masses almost everywhere. It has got a height of 128 mm, width of 90.3 mm and thickness of 9.3 mm along with a weight of 194.4 grams. The smartphone flaunts a capacitive touchscreen of 4.5-inches which provides a resolution of 1440x1440 pixels and a 453ppi of pixel density. The hard keys are well placed and quite responsive to the inputs. It also features accelerometer, compass, ambient light, magnetometer, time of flight, gyroscopic and proximity sensors. It has the ability to display 16 Million colors and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Powering the device is a fast running Quad-core 2.2 GHz processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974-AA chip-set and 450 MHz Adreno 330 GPU. The Passport has a massive RAM of 3 GB and an internal memory of 32 GB which can be expanded up to 64 GB via micro SD card. It is based on the Blackberry 10.1 operating system that handles the apps efficiently that are thrown on its way.
The Blackberry Passport operates on 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G (HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz) and 4G (LTE 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 MHz) network frequencies. SMS, MMS, email, push mail, IM and BBM 6 are the messaging and emailing facilities available for this device. It also features predictive text input which helps in typing.
Blackberry Passport comes equipped with a brilliant 13 MP which provides a photo resolution of 4128x3096 pixels and is featured with an auto-focus, LED flash, face detection, HDR, Geo-tagging, optical image and video stabilization . It gives you amazing pictures in day as well as night light. The 2 MP front-facing camera is also there for video chatting purposes. One can record 1080p at 60fps HD videos from the rear camera and 720p HD videos from the front camera.
The smartphone comes equipped with an impressive music and video player that offers you pleasant sound and good image quality. The FM radio is also there which gives you uninterrupted entertainment. Games and HD content looks interesting on the large screen of phone. It comes pre-loaded with various apps for the comfort of users. HTML5 browser is there to perform searches and other operations.
The networking and connectivity options loaded in the phone includes GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, micro USB v2.0, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and LE, NFC, GPS and A-GPS. The device is powered by a Li-Ion non removable 3450 mAh battery which can stay longer even with extensive use.
The Blackberry Passport is dipped in a Black and White shades. Overall, it is a decent phone with good configurations. Moreover, the Porsche design of phone serves as icing on a cake.
