Overview

Earliest Candybar Smartphones by BlackBerry
By Mandeep

BlackBerry 7100g was one of the earliest candybar smartphones by BlackBerry which help their customers interact with others and use this smartphone via a predictive text technology called SureType with a qwerty like layout. It was released in the market in June, 2005 and had got positive reviews like its predecessors. It came in a pack with a Li-Ion battery having a standby time of up to 192 hours and a talk time of up to 4 hours, a USB cable, a charger and a getting started guide. It had a height of 117mm, a width of 59mm and a thickness of 21mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 120gms and ran on 2G(GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) networks. It was available in Black and White shades.

BlackBerry 7100g had got a 2.2-inch, LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 240x260 pixels and 65k color display. It had got a RAM of 4MB along with an internal memory of 32MB and got a BlackBerry OS. Its other features includes a WAP browser, an organizer, a 2.5mm audio jack, computer sync, speakerphone, a thumb operated trackwheel, intuitive menus, keyboard lock compatibility, entertaining downloadable games, password protection, a notification LED, a MIDP 2.0 Java, SureType predictive text input and some others. For messaging, it included SMS, MMS, E-mail and IM and for connectivity, it used a Class 8 GPRS and EDGE, a Bluetooth and a USB port. It was one of the products of BlackBerry which was specifically and aggressively aimed for consumers rather than businesses.
