The Alcatel OT-710 is an all touch bar style device. It is made out of plastic and has a poor build quality due to the inexpensive body. Rounded at the corners, the device is on the thick side as well.
Alcatel uses its own user interface on the OT-710 that comes with some solid widgets. There is a Facebook, twitter, music, clock, and other applications that can be placed on the home screen. You will be able to navigate quickly and learn how to get to functions very quickly. The resistive touchscreen means that the display will be less sensitive and not the most ideal for inputting functions.
You are able to store up to 800 contacts and include their picture when you save their number. In addition, your missed, received, and dialled calls will all be saved as well.
The OT-710 supports text and multimedia messages. There is also email support. You can connect your POP3, IMAP, and SMTP emails for instant access.
A standard gallery will allow you to view your pictures. You are able to view videos as well if they are in MP4, H.263, or H.264 formats.
The audio quality is going to be about average when listening to music. Formats such as MP3, WAV, and MIDI are all supported. In addition, there is an FM radio with RDS for recording your favourite music stations.
Alcatel OT-710 features 2MP camera with no flash and auto-focus feature. There is also not an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the screen brightness. This all equals to a poor image quality.
The low resolution display is going to affect the video capture quality as well. You are probably better off not using the video capture due to the choppy results.
GSM networks using 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 bands can all be connected with the OT-710. There is also Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 support for transferring files.
Organization tools that are built in to the OT-710 include a calendar, alarm, to-do, calculator, unit converter, and currency converter.
Access to the web is available via the Opera Mini browser.
A native GPS application is not available on the OT-710.
Social network integration is available via Facebook and Twitter.
The call quality on the OT-710 is about average. Battery life is rated at an average of six hours of talk time. The OT-710 is an average quality device for those who want a touchscreen. If you can splurge a bit, there are better quality devices out there with a touchscreen.
