Overview
Akai is a Japanese Consumer Electronics Brand founded by Masukichi Akai and his son, Saburo Akai, 1929. Its headquarters are now in Singapore and this brand is now used to rebadge electronic goods manufactured by other companies. Akai means red and hence the logo of company is of red color. Akai manufacturer’s product list included reel to reel audiotape records, tuners, audio cassette decks, amplifiers, loudspeakers, video recorders and receivers. Akai manufactured Akai VS-2 which was the first VCR with an on-screen recorder. 1984 company diversified and added new division to manufacture and sell electronic instruments and was called Akai Professional. The current list of goods manufactured by company are DVD players and recorders, Home Theatre Speakers, Amplifiers, Air conditioners, Heaters, Microwave Oven, Refrigerator, Vacuum Cleaners, Washing Machines, Mini Systems, Micro Music Players, Bluetooth, MP3, Color LCD and Plasma TV.
