Acer is the world's 2nd largest PC manufacturer after HP, but the smartphone department of the company was not it's focus. Now the Acer has decided to make a place in the world of smartphones by launching good devices in the Indian mobiles market. Acer Liquid Metal is one example which got released and announced in 2010. It has its strengths including descent processor, good screen and new version of Android. It is a mid range phone available in Silver color only. Here is a quick review of the handset:
The front and back of the device are curved offering it an oval shape while viewing from the top. At the bottom, it has a USB port for connectivity and standard audio jack is located at the top. Dedicated controls comprise a camera key, power rocker and volume button. At the bottom of the screen, there are 4 responsive touch buttons for the usual Android functions such as Home and Menu. The screen measures 3.6 inches capacitive touchscreen having resolution of 800x480 pixels with 259 ppi pixel density and 16 million color support. Talking about the dimensions, it has a length of 115, width of 63mm, thickness of 13.5 mm and carries a weight of 135 grams.
It uses 800 MHz Scorpion processor coupled with 512 MB RAM, Qualcomm MSM7230 chipset and runs on Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) operating system with Adreno 205 GPU. It's processor starts working slow when the phone is loaded with too many apps.
The 5 MP auto focus rear camera is loaded with single LED flash with certain features such as Geo-tagging, digital zoom, image stabilization and face and smile detection. It has the ability to record 720p videos at 30 frames per second. But the smartphone has no front camera for video calling. The internal memory of the phone stands at 512MB and you can expand it up to 32 GB by inserting memory card slot.
In the terms of internet and connectivity, it is packed with several options like EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth, microUSB v2.0, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS with A-GPS support. It is packed with a 2 battery that promises to deliver up to 11 hours of talktime on 2G network as well as up to 8 hours on 3G. It is a bar shaped phone and supports 2G (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100) network frequencies.
Entertainment features of the phone includes FM radio, music player, video player, voice recording and video recording. It comes with certain preloaded apps like Twitter, Facebook, Google search, Maps, G-mail, YouTube and Google talk.
