Gionee communications is a truly international brand that focuses on production and sales of cellular mobile phones. It was founded by Liu Li Rong in September, 2002. The company has introduced the Pioneer P1, a dual SIM smartphone into the market. The box packs a handset, headset, USB cable, charger and user manual. Design and Display

Gionee Pioneer P1 is made from good quality materials in order to provide reliability and durability to the users. This bar shaped device measures 113mm in height, 61.5mm in width and 11.95mm in thickness. The phone has a HVGA touchscreen of 3.5-inches which provides a resolution of 320x480 pixels and a 165ppi pixel density. There is no hard key present on the front panel, it features only three soft touch keys for options, home and back.

Hardware and Software

The Pioneer P1 is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor with Mediatek MT6575M chip-set and PowerVR SGX531 GPU. It has a RAM of 256 MB and an internal storage of 512 MB which can be expanded to another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Gionee Pioneer P1 runs on the Android v2.3 Ginger Bread operating system. 

Telephony and Messaging

Gionee Pioneer P1 operates on GSM 900/1800 MHz frequencies. The phonebook is capable of storing an unlimited number of contacts. SMS, MMS, email and IM are the messaging and emailing facilities available for this device. It also features predictive text input and T9 dictionary.

Camera

The smartphone has a primary camera of 2 MP which is featured with auto-focus and provides a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. The VGA front-facing camera is also there which enables the users to video calling.

Multimedia

Gionee Pioneer P1 comes equipped with a music player and FM radio with recording. It also has a video player which offers you solid sound with good picture quality. It is pre-loaded with various apps for the users comfort.

Connectivity and Battery

The GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v3.0, USB and hands-free are some of the connectivity options available for Pioneer P1. The A-GPS support is also there to facilitate navigation. It is fueled by a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery to ensure better usage time.

The approximate price for Gionee Pioneer P1 is Rs.4,799. Overall, Gionee Pioneer P2 is an average phone with a reasonable price. But the major limitation of this phone is its out-dated software, small screen size and poor camera.
